3 Accent Wall Ideas After Your Home Renovation
If you’re planning to do a home renovation, chances are that you will also want to add some of your own personal touches on your new space. One way to do this is to have an “accent wall.” This is an interior wall in your home that has a design different from any of the other walls, with the purpose of “breaking up” the pattern that is created by the surrounding space.
An accent wall can really stand out if the remainder of your inside walls are painted in one single “flat” color or tone. In many cases, an accent wall can be found in the “common” spaces of a home, such as the living room or dining room.
So, how can you really make an accent wall pop?
There are several ways that you can get creative, without having to spend a lot of time or money, such as:
- Using a different color paint. One of the easiest ways to create an accent wall is to simply use a paint color that compliments the other three walls in the room. This can be particularly beneficial if you don’t want to add a significant amount to your renovation budget.
- Add stripes or a “splash” of a complementing color. Another option is to add a design – such as stripes or shapes – or even just a “splash” effect – in a different color on the accent wall.
- Paint just the trim. If you don’t want to paint or decorate a whole wall, you could instead paint only the trim, casings, and/or molding. This, too, can help to break up the otherwise blank space.
